OnePoint Patient Care Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

October 29, 2024 by

Ahdoot & Wolfson is investigating a potential class action against Arizona-based hospice pharmacy OnePoint Patient Care (“OPPC”), after it disclosed that it has been the subject of a cyberattack.

According to OPPC, it detected suspicious activity on its network on August 8, 2024. Before the cyberattack was detected, the hackers had obtained files containing personal information from OPPC systems. According to OPPC, compromised data includes names, residence information, medical records, and information on prescriptions and diagnosis. For some of the impacted individuals, Social Security numbers were also taken.

OPPC reported to the US Department of Health and Human Services that the data breach impacts over 795,000 people. The Inc Ransom ransomware group took credit for the attack on OPPC in mid-September, listing the company on its Tor-based leak website.

OPPC’s failure to protect sensitive customer personal information may violate state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws
