Municipal Credit Union Multiple Overdraft Fees – Class Action Investigation

Ahdoot Wolfson is investigating a class action lawsuit against New York-based credit union Municipal Credit Union (MCU) following reports that it improperly charges multiple Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fees (also known as overdraft fees) on a single transaction. Despite that MCU’s contract permits it to charge only one fee per transaction that overdrafts an account (typically $32), MCU reportedly charges subsequent overdraft fees relating to the same transaction.

MCU’s conduct of charging multiple overdraft fees may violate its contracts with accountholders, among other laws.
