Meta Platforms, Inc. – Private Browsing Data Class Action Investigation
Ahdoot & Wolfson is currently investigating reports that Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”) may be exploiting a function within the Android operating system to associate users’ private browsing activity with their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
A June 3, 2025, report by ArsTechnica suggests that Meta links certain browsing data—collected from websites that use the Meta Tracking Pixel—to individual user accounts. This practice may bypass requirements that such data remain anonymous and non-identifiable.
Meta’s actions may violate consumer protection and privacy laws. These laws, such as the California Invasion of Privacy Act, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, protect individuals’ privacy rights.
