Product Manufacturers Unlawfully Require Consumers to Obtain Product Repairs Using the Manufacturers’ Parts – Class Action Investigation

November 28, 2022 by

Ahdoot Wolfson is interested in speaking with consumers who have purchased a consumer product that has a warranty requiring all repairs to be performed with the manufacturer’s parts (called OEM parts).

Consumer product manufacturers often include in their warranties a requirement that product repairs must be performed with the use of their parts. The warranty will often state that a failure to use the manufacturer’s parts during a repair will result in the product’s warranty being void or canceled. These restrictions are illegal–such practices violate consumers’ “right to repair” and may violate the FTC Act, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, and other laws.

If you have purchased a consumer product that is subject to a restriction requiring you to only obtain OEM part repairs, Ahdoot and Wolfson’s attorneys want to hear from you. Please fill out the form below and one of our attorneys promptly will contact you.
