Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

May 25, 2021 by

Ahdoot Wolfson is investigating a data breach impacting healthcare and health services provider Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (“RMCHCS”).

On May 19, 2021, RMCHCS announced that a data breach impacting its systems potentially exposed employees’ and patients’ highly-sensitive personal information. RMCHCS has confirmed that as many as 200,000 people are impacted by the breach. As part of its breach investigation, RMCHCS has also identified “that an unauthorized party was able to access certain systems that contained patient information and remove some data between January 21 and February 5, 2021.”

The potentially exposed data includes names; dates of birth; postal addresses; telephone numbers; email addresses; Social Security numbers; driver’s license numbers; passport numbers, and for Native Americans tribal ID numbers. Various healthcare-specific data was also involved, including health insurance information, medical record numbers, dates of service and healthcare provider names; prescription, treatment, and diagnosis information; and billing and claims information, including financial account information.

RMCHCS’s failure to protect its patients’ and employees’ highly sensitive personal and medical information has jeopardized their privacy and exposed them to an ongoing risk of fraud and identity theft. These alleged data privacy shortcomings may be a violation of consumer protection and data privacy laws.
