Trinity Health Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

May 25, 2021 by

Ahdoot Wolfson is interested in speaking with individuals who received a notice letter from Trinity Health confirming that their personal information was exposed during a recent data breach.

The Trinity Health data breach is part of a larger, well-publicized breach involving a third-party data transfer vendor called Accellion. News of the breach broke in late 2020 after it was discovered that vulnerabilities in Accellion’s outdated file transfer software called the File Transfer Appliance (or FTA) were exposed by hackers, resulting in a breach of many Accellion clients. Trinity Health has confirmed that it was one of the Accellion clients impacted by the breach. As a result, Trinity Health has confirmed that 586,869 patients have now had their sensitive personal information exposed to cybercriminals. This data reportedly includes protected health information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, healthcare providers, medical record numbers and payment and claims information. For some, patients credit card information and Social Security numbers may have been exposed.

Trinity Health’s failure to protect sensitive personal information may be a violation of data privacy and consumer protection laws.

If you received a letter or other notification confirming that you have been impacted by the Trinity Health data breach, please fill out the form below and one of the attorneys at Ahdoot Wolfson will promptly contact you.
