Geico Data Disclosure – Class Action Investigation
Ahdoot & Wolfson is investigating a data disclosure impacting insurance company GEICO. The incident resulted in disclosure of customers’ driver license numbers for more than a month, according to a notice with the attorney general of California. GEICO identified that the incident occurred between January 21 and March 1, 2021. GEICO believes the fraudsters who carried out the breach may use the information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits. It is possible that many thousands of individuals may be affected.
GEICO’s failure to protect its customers’ personally identifying information may be a violation of consumer protection and data privacy laws.
