AW Achieves Preliminary Approval of SharkBite Water Heater Connector Settlement Potentially Worth Up to $108M

August 24, 2024 by in Results

Ahdoot Wolfson, serving as co-lead class counsel, achieved preliminary approval of a class settlement with Reliance Worldwide Corporation and Home Depot. RWC manufactured, and Home Depot sold, SharkBite™ Water Heater Connectors with the Part Numbers U3068FLEX or U3088FLEX. The Water Heater Connectors allegedly contained rubber liners prone to deterioration and flaking under certain conditions. Affected customers allegedly experienced black rubber specs and/or an oily sludge coming through their home faucets.

Settlement class members seeking replacement of operating Water Heater Connectors can receive a cash reimbursement of $15 per hose or a replacement Water Heater Connector. Settlement class members with failed Water Heater Connectors can recover for damages (repair costs, plumbers, lost time, etc.). The Settlement establishes a $3.8M settlement fund and provides for the replacement of an uncapped number of replacement Water Heater Connectors for the estimated seven million hoses still in use, making the settlement valued at up to $108M.
