NYU Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Ahdoot Wolfson is investigating a class action lawsuit against New York University (NYU) following news that it suffered a massive data breach.
According to public reports, information potentially disclosed in the data breach consists of NYU admissions data for 3 million people since at least 1989, including:
- names
- test scores
- majors
- demographic data
- city and zip codes
- citizenship status
- details of financial aid
- application rejection status
- personal information about applicants’ siblings and parents
NYU’s failure to protect sensitive information may violate state and federal laws, including privacy laws.
