University of New Mexico Health Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Ahdoot Wolfson is interested in speaking with individuals who received a notice letter from the University of New Mexico Health (“UNM Health”) confirming that their personal information was exposed during a recent data breach.  

UNM Health recently confirmed in a data breach notice that on June 4, 2021, it learned that highly sensitive information of its patients was potentially compromised after an unauthorized third party gained access to its network and systems on May 2, 2021. UNM Health reports that the breach may impact as many as 637,000 individuals. Data leaked during the breach reportedly includes names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record or patient identification numbers, health insurance information, and/or limited clinical information regarding care received at UNM Health. In some instances, patients’ Social Security numbers were also involved.

UNM Health’s failure to protect sensitive personal information may be a violation of data privacy and consumer protection laws.
